MEET THE OWNER
A former biologist, she started Violet & Ivy Cake Design after many years in an unfulfilling career. Leanna has always had a love for baking, passed down from her mom and her grandparents. Her love of baking and cake art has a wide and interesting history. From growing up on a farm and baking mud cookies in the sun to earning a bachelor of science in biology, Leanna has always had a passion for baking, experimentation and design. In 2017, she decided to combine her passion for baking, design and science and made the bold move to launch Violet & Ivy Cake Design. Leanna is also Food Handler Certified.
Launching Violet & Ivy Cake Design has allowed her to express her creativity when designing beautiful bespoke wedding cakes and also be a scientist in the kitchen. Creating and designing edible works of art is the perfect combination of her love for science and art. As Leanna often says “my lab is now my kitchen, my materials are now ingredients, and my results are always delicious.”
Her cake decorating style has evolved over the years from once setting mud cookies to bake in the sun as a child to creating sophisticated designs that are often described by couples as timeless and elegant.
