Cake Designer and Owner of Violet & Ivy Cake Design, LEANNA SHERIFF

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Leanna worked in the insurance industry for several years before transitioning to her innate passion for creation. Her passion for baking, a cherished tradition passed down from her mother and grandparents, has deep roots in her Caribbean heritage. Leanna often remarks that sweetness runs deep in her blood, in the best way possible.
 

Leanna grew up on a farm, where she spent many summers playing outside, pretending to bake clay cookies under the sun. This playful experimentation evolved into creating her renowned pecan tarts, marking the beginning of her self-taught baking journey. Leanna specializes in crafting breathtakingly realistic sugar florals that captivate with their lifelike beauty.

Leanna’s life has been a harmonious blend of baking, experimentation, and art. In 2017, she combined her passions for baking, design, and science to boldly launch Violet & Ivy Cake Design, introducing a unique, sophisticated touch to the world of bespoke cakes.

WHO IS VIOLET & IVY?

We are often asked how the name “Violet & Ivy Cake Design” came to be. The inspiration stems from the profound bond I share with my mother, who is not only my best friend and biggest supporter but also one of the most influential people in my life.

In choosing a name, I wanted to reflect this special connection. My mother’s favorite color is purple, her birthstone is amethyst, and she has a deep love for flowers. Thus, “Violet” symbolizes her. My own name, Leanna, means graceful meadow and dweller of the woods and vines, with my birthstone being emerald, “Ivy” felt fitting to represent me.

Together, Violet & Ivy symbolize the unconditional love between a mother and daughter. At Violet & Ivy Cake Design, we create beautiful edible art made with love.
