Wedding Guide

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS! I am beyond grateful that you are here. Blending your love story into a cake for your special day is the one thing that fuels me. Our work is elegant, contemporary and I always create something unique that fits your wedding.

Once you have confirmed your wedding venue, get in  touch with me to check my availability for your date. To guarantee freshness and quality, I work exclusively with 2-3 couples per week to design and create that extra special wedding cake experience. Our most popular months (May-September) can be booked up 2 years in advance. If you know that you would like a Violet & Ivy Cake Design wedding cake, get in touch as soon as possible. Even if you are unsure of the design details, you may secure your wedding date with a $100.00 non-refundable booking fee.

Consultations are the perfect opportunity for us to chat about all the details of your wedding and how you envision your wedding cake. During your consultation (which may be over the phone, followed up by an email), we can discuss and look at inspiration pictures of your venue, colour themes, types of decor, flowers, invitations and stationery. I will guide you through the process and come up with a few design ideas for you to review. A digital sketch will be provided to you once a retainer has been paid.

If you would like to book us after you’ve been provided a quote, a 50% retainer (non-refundable) is required to secure your date and order. The balance for  your wedding cake is due 4 weeks before your event. Accepted method of payment at this time is an e-transfer. Should you choose to cancel your order, the retainer fee will not be refunded. Retainers are NON-REFUNDABLE (Only exception is in case that the order cannot be fulfilled by our side, then, a full refund will be given).

You’ll receive one of my luxurious taster boxes containing a selection of my most popular flavours delivered to your preferred address in the GTA. They are charged at $50.00 plus delivery charge. Each of my tasting boxes contain 6 different flavours of my choice and 2 surprise treats, Please see Flavours tab below for a selection of cake flavours we offer. All of my cakes are baked fresh using the finest quality ingredients with no added preservatives, so it should be consumed within 48 hours of receipt for optimal enjoyment. Please be aware that my cakes are produced in a kitchen where GLUTEN and NUTS are handled, thus my cakes are not suitable for those with food allergies. Taster boxes are available 3 times a year, typically February, April, August. If you are interested in ordering a taster box, please get in touch and we will add your name to a waitlist. However, we also accommodate requests at other times of the year.

Vanilla Bean – Vanilla cake, raspberry jam, strawberry preserve, vanilla bean buttercream
Strawberry White Chocolate – Vanilla cake, strawberry preserve, white chocolate buttercream
Almond Raspberry – Almond cake, raspberry preserve, toasted almond slices, almond buttercream
Coconut Pineapple – Coconut cake, pineapple curd, toasted coconut, vanilla buttercream
Lemon Raspberry  – Lemon cake with fresh raspberries, lemon curd, vanilla buttercream
Red Velvet – Red velvet cake, real cream cheese buttercream
Chocolate Raspberry  – Light chocolate cake, raspberry preserve, chocolate ganache filling
Chocolate Hazelnut – Chocolate cake, hazelnut buttercream, hazelnut praline ganache
Chocolate & Salted Caramel  – Chocolate cake, salted caramel buttercream

Our standard cakes have 4 to 6 layers of sponge with 3 to 4 layers of filling for a standard height tier of 6″ tall. Each cake is covered in Swiss white chocolate ganache to seal in the freshness and then depending on the design, it may be finished with a luxury fondant. 

We specialize in ganache and fondant cakes. Although many prefer alternatives to fondant, we like to think of fondant as edible packaging that allows for the sophisticated clean look but you have to the choice to eat it. As one cake artist phrased it “The outside of the cake is your visual emotion, the inside of the cake is your flavour canvas”

Our kitchen does contain nuts and other allergens. If you or any of your guests have a specific dietary requirement, please get in touch with us before ordering to discuss and confirm your requirements. We do try to accommodate specific dietary requirements, however we do advise that all our cakes are baked in a kitchen which does contain gluten and dairy.

  • The price of our cakes depend on many factors, including serving size, design complexity, number of sugar flowers or fresh florals etc. Please get in touch with us, if you would like a quote.
  • Many of my wedding cake designs contain delicate elements and often require assembly at the venue which is why I deliver and set-up all of my wedding cakes. I will liaise with your wedding coordinator to arrange this in the lead up to your wedding day, as well as being in contact with your photographer, videographer and florist when necessary.
  • NUT ALLERGY WARNING: We are NOT a nut free facility. All products may contain, or have come in contact with a variety of nuts, including but not limited to, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios, peanuts, walnuts and almonds.
